Barefooting

Barefooting (bare*foon*n) n. 3. an intelligent way to deepen your connection with your natural surroundings.[1] Here now, I said intelligent. I'll get to definition 1 and 2 later.

I don't know about you, but I didn't like to where shoes as a kid. Going barefoot was freedom! Can you feel squishy mud and dewy grass when you shod it? Heck no. N-a-t-u-r-a-l.

"The soles of the feet are remarkably sensitive. Thus they provide the body with perfect coordination and motion, and allow you to experience the environment."[2]

Besides...going barefoot is legal.

So, to help you get started on your journey to naturalization, I have provided the following information:

"Thirty minutes of daily barefoot locomotion is a recommended starting point to allow thickening of the sole of the foot and adaptation of muscles and ligaments (Robbins et al., 1993). Begin by walking barefoot at every reasonable opportunity then progress to jogging, gradually increasing the intensity and duration (Yessis 2000, p.124). After 3-4 weeks, the plantar skin eventually becomes robust and allows longer periods of barefoot running at higher average velocities (Robbins et al., 1993). To facilitate adaptation, perform progressive strengthening exercises for the foot and ankle, including foot inversion, toe flexion, and walking on the balls of the feet. Barefoot locomotion on uneven surfaces will also help stimulate the plantar surface and provide increased sensory feedback (Yessis 2000, p.125)." [3]

if you don't want your feet to look like this

allow me to introduce you to.....

willy and neil

Do you want the exhilarating joy of going barefoot without leaving yourself exposed? Do you want to be able to participate in any activity requiring unconventional footwear offering the protection of a thin, flexible Vibram skin?[1] Then the vibram five fingers are the shods for you.

The vibram five fingers. Its patented design mirrors the flex points and silhouette of your foot to propel your body forward and promote a more natural gait. Increased sense of balance, and expanded range of motion, and visibly improved posture.[1] You can find more info about them here or if I used my oh so persuasive powers on you, you can order them here:)

I can now add my very own personal witness to truth! I love em and I know you will love em too! Like I said earlier- I like to feel the squishy mud and dewy grass. It does takes some getting used to. Give yourself a couple weeks! You will feel new muscles in your thighs and calfs. Isn't it great! I can tell that my ankles are getting stronger..and that is a good thing for me. I've sprained/twisted my ankles before as I'm sure you have too. Say goodbye to weak ankles! I have seen an improvement in my balance-I can dodge them rocks! :) I really really like these shods!:)
